Air India is one of the India's flagship airline. Air India touches the skies of more than 40 destinations across the globe. Air India carrier has several code-sharing partners, including Air France and Lufthansa in Europe; Emirates and Kuwait Airways in the Middle East; and Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways in Asia. The Indian government has announced plans to combine Air-India with another state-controlled carrier, Indian Airlines, which focuses on domestic routes. Air-India is now government owned.

It was founded as a small, private, domestic carrier in 1932.
