The Manchester Airport also houses some of the air flights for the Virgin Atlantic Airways. For possessing the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating License, Virgin Atlantic Airways has the liberty to carry mail and cargo along with passengers.

Formerly it was referred to as the British Atlantic Airways and was founded by Randolph Fields and Alan Hellary in 1982. After undergoing numerous changes, agreements and disagreements the name got transformed into Virgin Atlantic. Later, with the addition of several other aircrafts, Virgin Atlantic Airways stretched out its wings and started serving more destinations.
